Safari Rules

Introduction

Satpura national park During jungle safari drives, either on jeep or by walking or by boat, along with enjoyment we have to follow some rules and regulations and also see that other co-visitors will also follow it. Safari drive is a great priviledge for tourists so here our duty is to ensure that our presence in jungle will not cause any inconvenience or hurdle in animals movement, problem for park management and thus we need establish example of responsible tourism in Satpura tiger reserve. In order to achieve this, we need to know and understand the importance of all basic rules and regulations. Here we have listed them in do's and don'ts format. Just go through it, keep in mind and follow them during jungle safari drives.

Do's

In this section we will study the rules which explains what we are expected to do or follow during jungle safari drive. Voilation of rules may lead to legal action on anyone whether it is safari guide, driver or tourist.

  • Do your jungle safari with valid safari permit and your name has to listed in visitor list.
  • During any safari drive, always carry your identity document with you and be ready to produce whenever asked by park management.
  • Do not use strong permume or fragrant during jungle safari drives. It distracts animals and birds.
  • Try to keep your dress matching to surrounding atmosphere like wear some green, beige, pale yellow, light grey dress so that your presence will not distract animals and birds. This will help in great way, during safari drive. It may also enhance our sighting probability and duration.
  • Guide service is compulsory for all safari drives thus we have to use one guide per jeep.
  • Don't carry any radio or fire arm, match box, lighter etc during safari drive.
  • During safari hours, remain inside your safari vehicle till we reach any patrol camp or breakfast point. It you have any emergency or nature call, then first inform the guide, he/she will take the vehicle to appropriate place and advise you how to proceed further.
  • Safari duration in morning drive is approx. 5:00 hr and in afternoon safari it is 3:00 hr. Thus always carry your own water bottle to satisfy your thirst.
  • During safari drive, try to talk less and keep your eyes and ears alert to observe and see more. Talking is loud pitch often disturb animals and guide also. Guides need to notice various jungle calls and for that we should give keep silence so that he/she can hear and judge the various jungle calls and decide next course of drive. It is for visitor's benefit.
  • During safari, if any animal is walking or crossing the safari trail, give them first chance to walk away.
  • Abide by all park management rules. In case of any confusion, consult your safari guide.

Don'ts

In this section we will study the points about which we need to be careful and avoid such actions and stop other's from doing so.

  • During sighting, don't shout to disturb the animal or try to attract there attention for sake of photography. It is an offence.
  • Don't put pressure on safari vehicle driver to move fast or enter into unauthorized or restricted safari area, for sake of sighting.
  • Don't attempt to do safari drive if your name is not present in safari permit. Doing so cleverly will be treated as an offence and you will be punished for this action.
  • Never try to feed any animal or bird.
  • Don't try to get down from safari vehicle, during safari driver, without consulting your guide.
  • Don't use any whistle or horn during safari drive.
  • During safari drive, always remain in your allocated safari zone. For sake of sighting, don't try to intrude into other safari zone or enter into closed routes.
  • Don't try to carry anything from safari area to your hotel or home, without permission of park management.
  • Inside forest area, try to avoid phone calls, playing any radio or music item.
  • Smoking inside safari area is stricly prohibited. Never try this action else we will be punished.
  • Early entry or late exit is strictly prohibited. Always follow official timings and drive in queue.
  • Unnecessary road blocking, waiting in don't stop point, blocking the natural movement of reptile or bird or animal will be treated as offence. Never argue with offical team member and follow there instruction.
  • Changing safari vehicle, during safari hours, is strictly not allowed. If caught, we will be fined or warned or entry may be disallowed for some further safaris.
  • Throwing garbage or litter inside safari area is strictly prohibited. Keep it with you and drop in dustbin after doing exit.
