Introduction

Indian gaur or Indian bison (Bos gaurus) in forests of India are symbol of power, strength and social animal. They are from bovine family spread over large area of South Asia. They are listed in Vulnerable category of conservation status. Overall their population is healthy. India guar are herbivores animals which can easily be seen at Satpura national park in Madhya Pradesh. During jeep safari drives, we can easily find them in almost all the safari zone i.e Madhai zone, Panarpani zone, Parsapani zone, Bheemkund zone etc. They are mostly seen in group but males can be seen grazing alone in grasslands, close to jungle rivers, water holes etc. Females are often seen in group with baby calves.

Habitat

Gaur are mostly found at Central India and South India forests. They prefers forsts with bushes, grasslands having good natural water sources. They can be seen in plains, wetlands as well as in hilly terrains.
