Satpura Weather & Climate

Satpura national park lies in Satpura hills of Central India. It is part of Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve. Here Satpura National Park makes core area of Biosphere Reserve. Pachmarhi Biosphere is created in 03/Mar/1999 by Government of India vide notification number J-220116/17/94-BR. It lies between latitude 22°11 to 22°56'North and 77°47' to 78°52'East longitude. Biogeographically the area falls in Deccan Peninsula (06) and Biotic province- Central Highlands (6A). The general configuration of the area is hilly undulating terrain with places having deep gorges around Mahadev hills in Pachmarhi plateau. Here high altitude areas remain cool and receives good railfall where as low laying regions in Narmada basin are hot in summers with less rainfall in compare to high altitude regions. Climate & Weather
Satpura national park lies in Central India where we cannot find extreme weather conditions. Here Summer season prevails from March to June during which temperature reaches 30°C in morning hours and 40°C in day-time. May and June months are of peak summer time with heat waves. After summer season, monsoon come in July month and lasts till September or October months. Denwa river is the main water source of the park and Tawa dam has been built on this rivers. Its large encachement area makes some impact on climatic condition of national park. Here Winter season can be experienced from November to February during which temperature dips to 4°C in morning hours and 15°C in daytime. Here all the seasons can be experienced.
